2017 Movies: What have we seen, and what is on the horizon?

March 27, 2017

Let’s be honest with ourselves, 2016 was rough. We lost some iconic people from the film industry, and a lot of the movies that came out were either slightly underwhelming, or didn’t live up to our expectations in some ways.

2017 is making up for that, and probably a doing a little to prematurely help 2018. Every week I keep thinking “there is no way next week’s movie will have me leaving the theater as satisfied as I am right now.” And yet, here we are with more great films in a quarter of the year then we had all of 2016.

Split‘, ‘Lego Batman’, ‘Get Out‘, ‘Logan‘, ‘Kong Skull Island‘, ‘Beauty and the Beast‘, ‘Saban’s Power Rangers‘, plus some that i missed because my brain cannot comprehend this awesomeness… that list right there in 20 years we will be thinking that was a great year for movies. Oh that was only 3 months? We still have ‘The Fate of the Furious‘, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’, ‘Alien: Covenant’, ‘Pirates Dead Men Tell No Tales’, ‘Wonder Woman’, ‘The Mummy’, ‘Cars 3’, ‘Spider-Man Homecoming‘, ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’, ‘Dunkirk’, ‘Blade Runner 2049‘, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, ‘Justice League‘, ‘Star Wars the Last Jedi…’

Obviously that is an incredible list and there are some movies that i’m gonna go ahead and erasable pen them in as flops like ‘Baywatch‘, ‘Jumanji’, and of course the ‘Emoji Movie‘. With that being said 2017 might go down in history has the best calendar year of movies ever and I am so excited to be alive and a part of it.
